Car history:
This is a 1969 Corvette Stingray coupe, 427/390 HP, Monaco Orange(990) exterior, black leather interior, manaul trans., matching numbers, built November 1969. I purchased this car about 9 month ago and had the intention of working on and keeping the car for a long time, but because of my back problems getting worse I cannot drive the car any more then hour at a time, then I have to get out and rest. I really dont want to sell for I have wanted this car for a long time and now my health wont allow me. I dont know whats all been done to the car before I owed it, thats why I started replacing the parts that normally wear, which I have listed below. All the fluids have been changed out and synthetic fluids added. The Power Rack and Pinion steering that I installed makes this car handle so better then new, at highway speeds there is no shimmy or vibration at all. The paint is very shinny as you can see in the pictures, there are road chips that were touched up by a previous owner, but the chips are small; some are on the edge of the doors. The rear window comes out with just two clamps. The under carriage is very clean, I believe this car was either kept in a garage for the past 40 years and just driven on the weekends or it has been off the body restored. I never drove the car in the rain or if it was wet outside. This is what I have done so far. The carpet was all replaced, over a layer of sound deadener, the floor under the carpet were in excellent condition. The seats were re-covered in black leather with new foam, sun visors, both door panels, center shift consol, roof panels, instrument bezel, clock that works, leather steering wheel. Replaced the whole steering system with a power rack and pinion, this was the best thing I did with this, its unbelievable how it handles, better then new, because they didnt have anything like this back then, all ball joints, Bilstein shocks, all new brakes, roller rockers, new and modified rear strut rods, all "U"joints replaced with maintance free ones, all suspension bushings. Aluminum radiator with twin electric fans, this car never over heats even in 95 deg. Temps. New American Racing polished aluminum wheels with 245/60/15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. The Rochester carburetor has been rebuilt and modified for performance, idles very smooth for a big block. The distributor is HEI, so there are no points to go bad. Car was equipped with electric windows, power steering, tilt telescoping steering column, A/C but the compressor was removed to fit the Hooker side header and pipes. I never needed the A/C and didnt inquire about getting it to work, everything is there but the compressor, but will need to be modified to fit. The speedometer works, but the trip odometer doesnt. Hooker Chrome side/headers, header shields so you dont burn you self getting in and out. The car has 70,000 miles on the odometer. The previous owner had the car for 4 years and said he may have put 4,000 miles on it; I only put about 1,000 miles on it, if that. The engine runs very strong. $43,000. October 24, 2011.
